Who We Are

Romans 8 Church is an independent Bible-believing, Spirit-filled assembly of Christians committed to pressing toward the goal of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:14).

To this end, our mission is to equip God's people for work of building up the body of Christ to develop until we attain oneness in the faith, comprehension of the knowledge of the Son of God, and that we arrive at spiritual maturity--which is the fullness of Jesus Christ and the completeness found in Him (Ephesians 4:12-13).

What We Believe
  • All have sinned and need to be saved (Romans 3:23).

  • Jesus Christ--the Son of God--is God's gift to humanity for salvation (John 3:16).

  • Salvation comes by believing in Jesus' resurrection from the dead and by acknowledging Him as your Lord (Romans 10:9).

  • God expects us to (a) repent our sins, (b) be baptized in water, and (c) receive the infilling of the Holy Spirit once we are saved (Acts 2:38).

  • The power, presence and gifts of the Holy Spirit are still valid today (Acts 2:39).

  • Authority over the devil (to bind and/or cast out demons) and supernatural signs are the heritage of believers in Jesus (Mark 16:17-18).

  • God's intention for Christians is for them to be like Jesus--to do the works He did and even greater (John 14:12).

  • The Bible is God's Word for humanity--it is true, valid and will be completely fulfilled (Matthew 5:17-18).

  • Jesus Christ will soon return to earth in bodily form to set up a literal kindgom and to reign.

  • In anticipation of Jesus' 2nd coming Christians must get prepared, even in the face of tumultous times.
Our History

Romans 8 Church began as Romans VIII Evangelistic Association in 1972, when God called Owen and Irene Cain to teach the Word of God in Bible study groups meeting in their home in Joshua, TX.  When the groups became too large for a living room, an office space in Cleburne, TX was acquired, and additional ministries were conducted in other surrounding towns.  In 1977, a group of residents of Fort Worth, TX asked the Cains to conduct regular Sunday services at the Southwest YMCA.

Also that year, the Cains began a live TV broadcast on KXTX-Channel 39 in Dallas which aired from 1:00-3:00AM (called, appropriately, "The One-to-Three Answer"); it was the only program on the air at that hour and continued until 1981.  In addition to the demand for regular weekly services at different locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, Owen & Irene Cain traveled to other cities and states holding spiritual life seminars while Assistant Pastor Ray Andrews conducted services in Fort Worth.

Then, in 1985, Romans 8 purchased land in East Fort Worth with funds from accumulated freewill donations and the current Ministry Center facility at 201 Sandy Lane was built, where services have been held continuously since its completion in 1986.  With the addition of a fellowship hall in 1991, the Romans 8 Church was fully equipped to meet the needs of their congregation.

Since Pastor Cain's retirement in 2008, Ray Andrews has assumed the pastoral duties, and the church continues to carry out its mission to offer the message of spiritual maturity under the anointing of the Holy Spirit to all those with ears to hear.

Romans 8 Church has maintained ties with missionaries in Indonesia, working with Wycliffe Bible Translators, and the church handles local charitable benevolences in cooperation with Mission Arlington/Mission Metroplex.
